Matea Suarez received her Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University. Matea is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in the State of Florida. Matea opened her own private practice Be Still Therapy in 2022. Matea began her clinical counseling work in 2017. Matea worked at Olive Counseling Center as a registered mental health intern. Matea taught in the Escambia County School District for 8 years as an elementary school teacher. Matea has 3 beautiful children that are her world.
Matea utilizes multiple psychological theories to develop treatment goals and objectives as she works with clients to reach measurable outcomes and improve their overall mental wellness. Theories of practice include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Faith-based Counseling, Grief Counseling, and Couples Counseling.
Matea’s counseling work primarily focuses on work with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families working to overcome depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, trauma, anger, codependency recovery, addiction and recovery, life-span and relationship development issues, relationship crisis, cyber bullying/bullying, and coping strategies.

Matea has done numerous public speaking engagements and has had the pleasure of sitting on various panel discussions. Matea is an experienced public speaker who has partnered with schools to offer mental health workshops for educators and students.She is passionate about prioritizing teacher’s and students’ mental health first, so that everyone has a more healthy and effective learning environment. Matea also provides leadership training to help equip leaders with the tools to help improve mental health within their organization. Matea is an activist for mental health. She is passionate about helping end the stigma around mental health. Matea has host her “You Are Not Alone” workshop.
